This restaurant invites guests to embark on a culinary journey where fresh, expertly prepared seafood meets decadent desserts and perfectly grilled steaks in an atmosphere that balances elegance with comfort.
At the heart of Jourdan River Steamer’s appeal is its exceptional menu, a celebration of coastal flavors and premium ingredients. Seafood lovers will be captivated by offerings like the Snow Crab Leg Cluster served steaming hot, or the signature steamed platters such as The Love Boat and The Titanic, which present an abundant bounty of the sea perfectly crafted for sharing and indulgence. The Live Maine Lobster Tank hints at the restaurant’s commitment to freshness, featuring live lobsters that promise the finest dining experience for lobster aficionados with selections like Lobster Kadobster.
Beyond the seafood, the menu caters to diverse palates with standout items like the 14oz Ribeye paired with King Crab Legs, creating a sumptuous surf and turf that is both hearty and refined. The Potato Encrusted Red Snapper topped with crabmeat and hollandaise sauce invites diners to savor the layers of delicate, flaky fish with rich, buttery sauce. Soups and salads such as the Corn and Crab Bisque and the Seafood Gumbo are warming complements that reflect deep Creole inspiration while maintaining a light and refreshing balance.
Each bite promises a symphony of textures and flavors: from the briny charbroiled oysters crowned with luxurious caviar to the delicate, buttery notes of Shrimp Scampi. To finish on a sweet note, their Crème Brulee and homemade Key Lime Pie provide a velvety, luscious finale, with desserts that feel both indulgent and thoughtfully crafted.
The dining atmosphere at Jourdan River Steamer enhances every visit with its welcoming yet upscale vibe. Friendly and attentive service, as reflected in glowing customer stories, further elevates the experience. One guest, Trixie Huddleston, fondly recalls how their waiter “went above normal service” to ensure their meal was perfect — an experience mirrored by others who praise the warm hospitality. The restaurant is a "little gem" where patrons appreciate the freshness of the seafood and the expert menu recommendations from servers like Shannon.
For those sensitive to cooler settings, it’s worth noting that the elegant dining room maintains a refreshing 68 degrees, contributing to the crispness of sea-inspired air but suggesting a cozy sweater might be a wise companion. Price points reflect the high quality and freshness of ingredients, especially given the rarity of live Alaskan crab so far from its shores, a nuance that reveals the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and excellence.

We dined there our last night of our vacation and what a way to end our trip. Our Waiter Charlie was fantastic, and went above normal service to help us. From the oysters and lobster dip for the appetizer to our main dish of the Bounty plus we added some king crab legs, this meal did not disappoint! If you are in the area, we highly recommend this as a must try!!
A little gem in the Kiln! If you love seafood, it's a must-stop. If you tend to be cold bring a sweater it's chilly inside (68). Food is pricey but it is fresh and tasty. Also pretty sure only place that imports from Alaska anywhere off the Gulf Coast, we were told our crap was a live eight days ago.. Crab dip came out quickly and was just about gone before I was able to snap a picture, LOL. It did take a while for our main platter. We got the Poseidon that serves up to four. I'd plan on at least two hours from sitting to finishing the meal. Possibly longer if there’s more in your group.. We did end up taking some home. Server was nice but busy. We did have a bit of a wait for refills of drinks or for them to come around and check on us. Manager/owner did stop by table and was present around the restaurant. Overall great experience! Ps I do give you a warm finger bath w/lemon to clean up!
Food was delicious! Portions were perfect and no need to flavor dishes because they had plenty. Best Royal Reds I've had.
Great food and dining experience! Shannon was an excellent server. He made some great menu suggestions.
We had an incredible dinner at Jourdan River Steamer. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming, and the food kept getting better with every course. We started with a pound of the royal red shrimp and a bowl of seafood gumbo. The shrimp were huge, seasoned perfectly, and came with melted butter on the side. The seafood gumbo was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and a nice scoop of rice on top. A great start. For our main course, we ordered the filet cooked medium rare, and it came out just right — tender and full of flavor. It was served with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and a giant piece of roasted bone marrow that really took things to the next level. We also tried the tuna dip which was smoky, creamy, and served with crispy crackers and toppings that added a nice pop of flavor. We finished with dessert and could not resist ordering both the bread pudding and the chocolate cake. The bread pudding was warm and comforting with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel. The chocolate cake was rich and fudgy with just the right amount of sweetness. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the service made it even better. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in a while and we will definitely be coming back. If you are anywhere near Kiln, Mississippi, this place is a must.
